Marble Racing in 6C
Oh.....Oh......YEAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHH!! Green Ducks have won!!
This term we have been doing marble racing! Each student gets a team/color marble, and we watch the race every week and record who's in the lead. We cheer as if it's the real F1 and have so much fun! In this activity we practice sportsmanship and data recording. I personally look forward to it and can't wait to see who the final winner is!
Reading: Subordinating Conjunctions
Recently in reading, we have been learning about subordinating conjunctions. They are used to connect dependent clauses to independent clauses in a sentence. Using the abbreviation “ISAWAWABUB,” we identified different subordinating conjunctions in a story that the teachers gave us.
Subordinating conjunctions can be at the start and the middle of sentence, and help connect independent clauses and dependent clauses.
There are loads and loads of different types of conjunctions, but we only covered time conjunctions, which are conjunctions that are involved with times, e.g. since, whenever, as soon as.
Maths in Term 2
This term in Maths we have been doing short division, long division and prime and composite numbers. In short division we practiced on our whiteboards to help us understand how to carry numbers and get the right sum. We also learned long division so we could have different strategies when doing division we also worked on multiple step worded problems. We learnt about prime numbers and how they are only made up of them self. Example, 7 is a prime number because it can only be made up of 7x1 or 1x7. A composite number is a number that is made of more than 2 factors example 12, 1x12 6x2 3x4. Thank you for reading our recount on maths this term!
Year 5/6 House Athletics Day 🏃♂️🏃♂️
House Athletics Day was for kids to have fun while doing something good for their body and mental health. It was a good warm day and for once we didn’t have to cancel an activity. We were all taking part in 5 sport activities, sprints, shot put, hurdles, discus and finally long jump. We all did great. Even some kids didn’t want to have a try or felt nervous still gave it their best shot. It was really fun trying out other activities we had never tried. The event was 2 hours full of fun and we didn’t worry about what place we were going to get.
