Senior School  Report

It has been a busy and exciting start to Semester 2 in the Senior School, with students across Years 10–12 taking part in a range of opportunities focused on learning, pathways and preparing for what comes next. 

A number of our Year 10 students have completed the VET Tradie Taster Program, attending each Friday and gaining valuable hands-on experience across different trades. Opportunities like this give students the chance to explore possible career pathways and develop a better understanding of the many options available to them beyond school. 

Pathways have also been a major focus for our Year 10 cohort. Students attended our Senior School Information Night and have since participated in course counselling, having important conversations about their subject choices, pathways and what Years 11 and 12 might look like for them. This is an area I am extremely passionate about, and it has been fantastic to see students beginning to think carefully about their future and make informed decisions about the pathway that is right for them. 

Our Year 10 Live4Life program has also commenced this term, providing students with another valuable opportunity to build their knowledge and skills while connecting with their peers and the wider community. 

For our Year 12 students, the focus is increasingly turning towards both the end of their secondary schooling and what comes next. Our scored students participated in a dedicated day of revision in English and Maths, alongside a range of revision and study skills activities during our PL Day. With the final months of Year 12 now underway, these opportunities are an important part of supporting students as they prepare for their final assessments and exams. 

Our VCE VM students have also been exploring their options beyond school, attending the Ballarat Jobs and Training Expo and learning more about the employment, training and further education opportunities available locally. 

Year 12 students recently attended a VTAC information session and have now begun creating their applications for tertiary education. Many students have also been busy attending university open days on weekends. It has been particularly exciting hearing the buzz from students when they return after visiting campuses, exploring courses and beginning to picture what life after school could look like. 

Semester 2 is always an important time in Senior School. For some students, it is about beginning to make decisions about Years 11 and 12; for others, it is about preparing to take their final steps beyond secondary school. 

It has been wonderful to see our students engaging with these opportunities, asking questions and taking increasing ownership of their pathways. 

I look forward to another busy and rewarding semester ahead.
