Year 11 Report 

It has been fantastic to see our Year 11 students settle into Term 3 so positively. There has been a great sense of purpose around the Senior Centre, with students returning refreshed and ready to tackle the semester ahead. 

Last Thursday, students enjoyed a Games Afternoon in the Senior Centre. It was wonderful to see so many students taking the opportunity to unwind, connect with friends and enjoy some friendly competition over a range of board games. These opportunities are an important reminder of the value of balance, particularly during what can be a busy and demanding term. 

A huge congratulations to our Year 11 cohort for the outstanding improvements we have seen in school uniform. Students have done an excellent job representing our school with pride, and we encourage them to continue having positive conversations about why wearing our uniform matters. Wearing the Woodmans Hill College uniform reflects a sense of belonging, pride and respect for our school community, and we appreciate the efforts students are making each day. 

There are plenty of exciting opportunities coming up over the next few weeks. On Wednesday 26 August, we will celebrate Book Week, with students encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters.

On the same day, our Year 11 VCE VM Literacy students will showcase the persuasive presentations they have been working so hard on this term. Their challenge is to convince their peers to vote for a proposed excursion, with the winning presentation determining the excursion the class will undertake. 

Students will also participate in a presentation from the Pat Cronin Foundation. Through powerful real-life storytelling, the presentation encourages young people to think carefully about the consequences of violence, develop strategies to manage conflict, and make respectful, positive choices in their everyday lives. It is an incredibly valuable learning experience that aligns strongly with our school's Wellbeing and Respectful Relationships programs. 

Looking ahead to Term 4, planning is well underway for our Year 12 Step Up Camp. This is always an exciting opportunity for students as they begin preparing for their final year of schooling. More information, including dates and permission details, will be shared with families over the coming weeks, so please keep an eye on Compass Communications. 

A reminder to families that SAC dates and assessment information are available via the live Year 11 SAC calendar. As this document may be updated throughout the term, we encourage students to check it regularly to ensure they are aware of upcoming assessments and can plan their workload effectively. 

As we move through the remainder of the term, our Year 11 focus will continue to centre on building respectful relationships with staff and peers by following teacher instructions, remaining in class, and meeting the expectations of our Personal Electronic Device (PED) Policy. 

These expectations are designed to maximise learning time and help students develop the habits that will set them up for success in Year 12 and beyond. We appreciate the ongoing support of families in reinforcing these expectations at home. 

Finally, we understand that senior school can present challenges at times. We encourage any student who may be finding things difficult—whether academically, socially or personally—to reach out. Our Year 11 team, teachers and wellbeing staff are always here to support students and work together with families to help them achieve success.
