Wellbeing Team Update
There’s lots happening across our Wellbeing Team this term! We’re excited to share some of the programs, supports and opportunities currently available to our students and families.
️🌈 PRIDE in Schools Excursion
We are looking forward to our upcoming PRIDE in Schools excursion. Pride in Schools is a one-day conference bringing together young people and school staff for a day of connection, learning, and community. Developed through Y Ballarat's Diversity & Inclusion Project and now delivered in partnership with QHub, the event aims to empower queer young people and allies to build meaningful community connections and lead positive change within their schools and communities.
Throughout the day, participants will have opportunities to:
Connect and network with students from other schools
Learn about local community organisations and support services
Participate in engaging presentations and interactive activities
Build leadership skills and confidence
Strengthen connections within the broader LGBTIQA+ community
🎨 Wellbeing Art Group
Our Wellbeing Art Group, run in partnership with the Y Ballarat, has started! This group provides students with a relaxed and creative space to explore wellbeing through art.
Students can use creativity as a way to express themselves, connect with others and take some time out from the busy school day. No artistic experience is needed — it’s all about having a go, being creative and enjoying the process.
💡 Things No One Told You – Life Skills Program
The Things No One Told You Life Skills Program, delivered in partnership with the Y Ballarat, is now underway. This practical program gives students the opportunity to explore some of the skills and knowledge that can help them navigate life beyond the classroom.
The program focuses on building confidence, independence, decision-making and practical everyday skills. The things we sometimes wish someone had taught us sooner!
💬 Tuning into Teens
Tuning into Teens is running in conjunction with CatholicCare, supporting parents and carers to better understand and respond to their teenager’s emotions.
The Tuning into Teens program helps strengthen parent and teen relationships and builds connection between carer and teen. Through building carer understanding of emotion coaching, you can help your teen develop emotional intelligence. Carers will learn more about what is happening for teens so that they can understand their world, communicate more effectively with them and support them to manage their emotions.
Secondary School Nurse
Welcome, Vanessa!
We are very excited to welcome Vanessa, our new Secondary School Nurse, to our school community.
Vanessa can be found in the Wellbeing Hub, so please pop in and say hello when you see her. She’ll also be handing out fresh fruit at recess on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students are encouraged to come along, grab some fruit and say hi!
We’re looking forward to welcoming Vanessa and the positive contribution she will make to our school community.
