Engagement & Wellbeing Update
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through Term 3! As always, the term is flying by, and it has been wonderful to see our students engaging in learning, extracurricular activities and the many opportunities available across the school.
This term, our Engagement and Wellbeing Team has been focusing on strengthening our Tier 1 (Universal) supports to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. By building consistent expectations and positive routines across the school, we aim to create a consistent environment where students feel safe, connected and ready to learn.
Live4Life Mental Health First Aid
Our Year 10 students have recently commenced their Live4Life Teen Mental Health First Aid training. This important program equips young people with the knowledge and confidence to recognise when a friend may be experiencing mental health challenges and how to respond safely and appropriately. It also encourages students to seek support from trusted adults and professional services when needed.
A focus of ours has been to ensure that we have sufficient staff trained as Live4Life facilitators so that our staff, who already have relationships with our students, can train our students in a safe and supportive environment.
This term Claire Blower, Jessica Hollands, Ash Giblin and Megan Matthews will be facilitating the training in our Year 10 classes. We are proud to provide our students with opportunities to develop these valuable life skills and strengthen our supportive school community.
Attendance and Lateness
Regular attendance and punctuality are key factors in student success. Every lesson matters, and arriving on time ensures students can settle into learning, connect with their teachers and peers, and avoid missing important instructions at the beginning of class.
Students are expected to arrive to class, prepared for learning by ensuring that the bring all required learning materials. We have 5 minutes of warning music, which notifies students of the need to get prepared for class and arrive to their classrooms before the bell rings.
This term we have continued to focus on improving attendance and reducing lateness across the school. Families can support this work by:
Encouraging students to arrive at school before the first bell each day.
Scheduling appointments outside of school hours where possible.
Communicating with the school when your child is absent and providing the appropriate explanation.
Reinforcing the importance of attending every class, every day.
Communication to notify of your child's absence can be made via
