Transitions in the air

Well it has been a very busy end of term in year six with Winter Sports Gala Day taking place, a farewell assembly for Kaajal as she prepares to depart to Europe for the rest of year and a Year 7 information session led by former NMPS Alumni giving us all the need to know information about what to expect next year at High School.

Year 7 High School Forum

Last Tuesday we were lucky to have Andrej, Ellie and Wren, NMPS alumni and current year 7 students at Uni High to give a talk about their first 2 terms in High school to help better prepare our year sixes for transition to high school next year. The trio talked about their experiences of Uni High and gave the year six students some tips and tricks to help them survive year 7. The year sixes then had an opportunity to ask questions about high school which were deftly answered by Andrej, Ellie and Wren. Overall it was a positive experience for the year sixes that helped dispel some of the misunderstandings about high school and everyone left excited about next year. A big thank you to Andrej, Ellie and Wren for taking time out of their busy schedule to share their experiences.

NMPS Gala Day

During Weeks six and eight, 50 year sixes took part in the Winter team sports Gala Day held at Fairbairn Reserve in Ascot Vale. North Melbourne fielded 5 teams, a mixed and Girls AFL teams, a girl and mixed Netball Teams and a T-Ball side. Here is Khang, Mahdi and Charlotte with a review of the T-Ball and Netball teams.

In T-ball we had many good matches and games, we met lots of other schools full of people with good sportsmanship! Our team also had lots of fun playing T-ball and we also won 2 matches and drew 1 match out of the 7 matches but the majority of the games were really close with one game being 10 to 12! Even though we did not win overall, we had lots of fun and sport and fun were the real winners in the end! Hopefully next time we can do better and have lots of fun again with even better scores. Shoutout for all the players participating in gala day.

In netball, we had a great time. The mixed team and the girls team played 16 games in total. The girls team won two, and the mixed team won one. At our first gala day, we felt we could do better, so we discussed improvement and strategies. The girls team won their two games on the 2nd gala day. The mixed team won their game as well. Overall, we had a wonderful time, and we wish we could do it again.
