German Poetry Competition at Lakeside

German Poetry Competition at Lakeside
On 25 August, Lakeside Primary School hosted the Regional Final of the German Poetry Competition, and what a wonderful celebration of language, courage and dedication it was!
Twelve Year 4 students took on the challenge of learning a German poem and devoted extra time and effort to practising their pronunciation, expression and performance. They worked hard, supported each other and showed great commitment to their German learning.
The excitement—and a few nervous butterflies—were certainly noticeable in the room when two judges from the AGTV (Association of German Teachers of Victoria) arrived to judge the Regional Final. Standing up in front of an audience and performing a poem in another language takes real courage, and every student should be incredibly proud of their achievement.
As their German teacher, I am especially proud to see our students willing to step outside their comfort zones, put in the extra work and give something new a go. Their enthusiasm and dedication made the day a very special one.
This competition has hopefully marked the beginning of a wonderful new tradition at Lakeside: our annual German Poetry Competition, giving students the opportunity to celebrate the German language, build confidence and share their learning with others.
A huge congratulations to all twelve students for their hard work and courage.
Gut gemacht!
