Celebrating Our Students at the Angelico Art Exhibition
Recently, we had the pleasure of celebrating our talented Visual Arts students at the Angelico Art Exhibition opening night on 18 August.
The Angelico Exhibition is a prestigious annual event on the Catholic school art calendar, showcasing the creativity and artistic achievements of students from Catholic schools across Western Australia. The exhibition is named after Blessed Fra Angelico, Patron before God of Artists.
We were incredibly proud to have 10 students represented in this year’s exhibition:
- Fraser M – Year 12
- Trent B – Year 12
- Lee N – Year 11
- Oliver C – Year 11
- Oheneba O – Year 10
- Fletcher R – Year 8
- Sebastian C – Year 8
- Brayden D – Year 8
- Jackson S – Year 8
- Thomas F – Year 8
The evening was made even more special with two of our students receiving awards.
Lee N was awarded the First Nations Art Award for his artwork Tracing Country. This award recognises an artwork that demonstrates creativity, communicates story and shows a discerning application of media.
This is an outstanding achievement and a wonderful recognition of Lee’s artistic practice and connection to Country.
Oheneba O was awarded First Prize in the Year 7–10 Sculpture category for his sculpture Held Together. This is an exciting achievement and a fantastic recognition of Oheneba’s creativity, technical skill and commitment to his artwork.
The Visual Arts Department could not be more proud of all our students who were selected for the exhibition, and we congratulate each of them on this wonderful achievement.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated Visual Arts team - Ms McKecknie, Mrs Giannopoulos, Ms Otway-Melvin and Miss Gissing - for their hard work, guidance and commitment to supporting our students and helping them achieve such fantastic results.
