👷VET Pathways & WPL

Year 12 Students
With just four weeks of school remaining, it is important that our Year 12 students make the most of the opportunities available to strengthen their résumés, develop their interview skills and prepare for life beyond school.
This final round of Workplace Learning provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience, build industry connections and improve their chances of securing future employment as they transition confidently into the workforce.
Full-time TAFE applications will open on 3 September and close on 30 October, with offers released on 3 December. As some courses are highly competitive, students should ensure their résumé, qualifications and certificates are up to date and presented to a high standard. Maintaining strong academic performance will also help strengthen their applications and improve their chances of securing a place in their preferred course.
Year 11 Students
Many of our Year 11 students have enrolled in TAFE or are going through the process of enrolling in UniPrep courses for 2027. For students who are not participating in UniReady, a Certificate IV can also be completed as a standalone subject option.
Please note that, following recent SCSA changes, only the Certificate IV in Nursing and Certificate IV in Education will contribute towards WACE graduation requirements. While there are other Certificate IV courses available, students considering these options should discuss their individual pathway with the Careers team to ensure they are on track to meet their WACE requirements.
Year 10 Students
Our Industry and Enterprise students will complete their work experience placements in Week 10, providing another valuable opportunity to gain practical workplace experience.
This week, students attended Everythought College to participate in a Try-A-Trade experience in Wall and Floor Tiling. Looking ahead to Term 4, students will also have the opportunity to visit MACA, with mining industry excursions planned to further enhance their understanding of career pathways and real-world employment opportunities.
In the classroom, students are currently developing their résumés and will soon move on to writing cover letters and practising interview skills to help prepare them for future employment.
COLLEGE OF ELECTRICAL TRAINING:
The College of Electrical Training is now accepting Expressions of Interest for the Pre-Apprenticeship in Electrotechnology program. Students have already received information about the opportunity.
Please note that enrolments close on Friday, 4 September, and applicants will be required to sit an entry test at the Jandakot campus shortly afterwards.
CTF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM;
This fully funded program offers students the opportunity to work towards a Certificate II in Building and Construction while still attending school. Depending on their chosen pathway, selected students will attend an RTO one day a week for one year. Students will also have the chance to gain practical experience through on-site work.
As part of the program, CTF will cover the cost of all uniforms, boots and course tuition, and we will offer ongoing mentoring and support, along with other wraparound services. Students must complete work placement within their chosen industry.
Applications close on 30 September.
