Young Vinnies

Good Works Kitchen

Last week, the Young Vinnies students met after school (before a long weekend!) in the UBean Kitchen to create culinary delights for the clients of Tom Fisher House Refuge, Perth. The week’s menu was Chocolate Chip Bread & Butter Pudding. The students were keen as always, thorough in their method and made incredible desserts.

On Friday, ice cream and custard were picked up on the way to Tom Fisher House to add to the Chocolate Chip Bread & Butter Pudding and were welcomed with open arms!

Young Vinnies would like to thank members of the Parents’ Association for funding the purchase of commercial cooking equipment for this program, which will allow us to cook greater amounts in a shorter time.

In Week 8 of this term, the Year 12 students will be starting their collection of festive food items and decorations for the Young Vinnies Christmas Appeal.

Years 7–11 will be in Term 4.

The Christmas Appeal is an annual fundraising and donation drive run by Young Vinnies to support families and individuals facing poverty, homelessness and financial stress during the festive season. Lists of food items, decorations etc. to donate will be shared with students, from which Christmas hampers are created and then delivered to families in our community that have called upon Vinnies for support.

We hope to be able to bring a little joy to a family this Christmas!
