Grevillea House

It has been a busy few weeks in Grevillea with a lot going on across year levels.

There has been a lot of excited preparation for our Multicultural Celebration week that is quickly approaching. This is one of our most enjoyable weeks of the year and we are all looking forward to sharing elements of the wonderful cultures that make up our school. This term a lot of our students have also had the opportunity to share their perspectives in the school review forums, and we thank all students who participated in the discussions.

Our Year 12s are preparing for the School Based Practice Exams next week, an important part of the preparation for the VCAA exams that will start in October. They are also currently finishing their final assessments. We wish them well as they work hard and study for these.

Our Year 7s went off to a very enjoyable excursion to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and had a fantastic time. Year 8s have been out exploring Dandenong and have visited businesses as part of their Humanities curriculum.

Our Year 9s in the Youth Development course are undertaking community service at the moment. It is great to have them heading out to different community groups to offer support. While our Year 10s are currently planning projects to undertake in Term 4, it is great to see them considering the needs of our community. They have also been undertaking their “Promoting Healthy Communities Unit” and have been going to Genesis Fitness Centre to partake in weight training and cardio sessions.

Year 11s have had their Leadership camp over the last week, a fantastic opportunity for developing leadership skills, and next week have their Formal Dinner. We can’t wait to see them all dressed up and enjoy this milestone event.

All students in Year 8 to 11 have also completed their course selection for next year and were engaged and made careful decisions about their education for 2024.

We look forward to the next couple of weeks as we go into the exams and Multicultural celebrations to complete term 3.
