Darwinia House

Hi, I'm Somaya R. I’m representing Darwinia 8 as SRC. It has been fascinating how the SRCs in the House have been gathering as a team to meet and make decisions. With all the gratitude and positive messages, we are exploring and designing new ideas while making our House an exciting place.

This term has gone really well because we had so much fun with new people in 8D.  Year 8 had excursions like Humanities and other excursions. 8D is the best because everyone is making friends with other students in the class.    

Swimming lessons were organised for all the Year 7s and 8s. We had so much fun  with boys and girls in different pools. 8D had swimming from 12pm till 1pm for a whole week. Some days we would arrive back at school at 1:20pm. All the Year 8s went with their own House, but some people didn’t swim so would stay with other Houses.

The Humanities excursion was for all Year 8 students. First we went to Dandenong Plaza. We asked people different questions like whether people in Dandenong are welcoming or friendly. After that, we did the tally task to record how many people visited a shop in ten minutes. All students bought snacks for themselves, then 8D went to Walker Street to ask the business owners about how they started their business and how they got motivated to open their business. We were researching for about 45 minutes there. Then, we finished our task and we came back to school at lunch time.
