Our Dragons on Hockeyroos-Kookaburras turf

St George’s competed in the ACC Championship Hockey Division Two Carnival at Perth Hockey Stadium, Bentley. Just beautiful, refurbished turfs that the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras train and play on and we were lucky to be playing in such a venue.

Our boys team made third overall and the girls came out fifth but losing by only a goal to lots of teams including John XIII College who won the carnival. Both teams proving competitive within the competition.

The sport enables our Year 7 -12 Hockey players to come together on the turf, enabling connection and integration through the year groups, which is just great to see. This is our third year competing in this event and we look forward to years to come. Many thanks to Mr Brad Cotterell for his expertise. Also, Ben Humphreys was just amazing with the girls’ team and thanks to Miss Sadie Yoxall for her expertise with the girls’ as well.

End of an era for NWAS

This week our Year 7-9 students battled it out at the last of the North Western Associated Schools’ one-day carnivals. It was the final NWAS Carnival for us as the ACC have adjusted the sub-association sport and grouped us with new schools of similar size cohorts for 2026.

Currently we are known as North Group 2 and the new schools we will compete against are:

  • Aranmore Catholic College
  • Kingsway Christian College
  • Mercy College
  • Quinns Baptist College
  • St Stephens School Duncraig
  • St Stephens School Carramar

This was the last NWAS one-day carnival with:

  • Carmel School
  • John Septimus Roe Anglican School
  • Mercy College
  • Emmanuel Catholic College
  • Aranmore Catholic College
  • Kingsway Christian College

Mixed Netball and Girls’ Netball was played at Warwick Stadium, Girls Soccer at Mercy, Badminton at Kingsway Indoor Stadium, and Touch and Boys’ Soccer at Britannia Reserve.

The students were fantastic ambassadors of the school competing with tenacity and respecting the ACC’s motto of “sport in the right spirit”. Congratulations to all students and many thanks to the staff that attended the event.

On your marks for the Interhouse Athletics Carnival

When we return to school, athletics will burst straight from the starting blocks. In Week 2, we will host the Interhouse Athletics Carnival at the WA Athletics Stadium, Stephenson Ave, Floreat  - on Wednesday 30 July. Parents and carers are encouraged to come along. Last year Gandhi House took out the Athletics Shield - but who will win in 2025?
