Term Two has ended – and what fun we had

As daylight fades after a spectacular Lincoln House Charity Day today, we have reached the end of Term Two - a fast-paced, jam-packed but undoubtedly worthwhile and hugely successful term.

I would like to take a moment to reflect on the vibrant life that so obviously thrives within our unique and special school community. It is just remarkable how much we have achieved together this term, and I am so proud of our students and staff for their effort, dedication and constant commitment to excellence which has shone through in all our undertakings this term.

We have witnessed countless achievements and milestones, both big and small. We enjoyed the sunshine of our Interhouse Cross Country at Kings Park, celebrated our 10-year anniversary as part of the St George’s Day Eucharist with St George’s iced buns. We stood tall on stage as part of our IPAF and walked with Bishop Hans as part of the Pilgrimage for Hope. We studied hard for examinations and ESTs, lived the outside life on Year 8 Camp, and we showed our sporting prowess as part of the ACC Netball, Cross Country, Soccer and Hockey Carnivals. We celebrated the unveiling of the statue of Edith Cowan on St Georges Terrace and appointed our inaugural Head of Cowan House. We dressed up for Book Week and let our Year 10s out into the big wide world to experience a week of work experience. From academic triumphs to artistic endeavours, athletic accomplishments, and acts of kindness, our students have consistently ‘Found their Brave’ during Term 2 and demonstrated the values and principles which we hold dear here at St George’s Anglican Grammar School. Well done, St George’s!

Next term is a hugely exciting one – we open our new campus at 441 Murray Street. This will allow our students to have so many more educationally enriching experiences as part of their daily lives here in the heart of the city and I cannot wait to hear the laughter, see the smiles and feel the learning that will occur on the floors of 441 Murray Street.

I would like to thank everyone for their many contributions to a very successful and busy term. Mid-year reports have been published and are on their way into your SEQTA inbox. They clearly outline student achievements this semester but also show areas to build on for the future and opportunities for growth and development.

My three-week break, along with so many St George’s Staff, will involve packing up and moving St George’s out of 10 William Street and setting up the classes in our new learning spaces at 441 Murray Street. Maths, Science, Music, Dance & Drama will all be operating lessons from our new school campus next term. Stage One will be open and ready for learning from the first day of next term and students will see this by having a MS (Murray Street) or WS (William Street) on their timetables. Further operational details about the new campus will come to families during the holidays.

Finally, I would like to wish you all a peaceful holiday break with lots of quality rest and relaxation. The greatest joy of the three-week July holiday break is that it provides a wonderful chance for us to reenergise and recharge deeply before returning to build on our strong foundations to create even more spectacular opportunities for growth, learning and success as we commence Term Three on Tuesday 22 July. Happy holidays.
