Since our last update, we have had a lot happening in Science.
Students in Years 9 and 10 were treated to an exciting AVISTA Science Show, featuring live demonstrations and a visit from a robotic dog that amazed the crowd. The presentation explored how science, technology, and engineering are applied in fields such as flight, rockets, and modern defence systems. Students were engaged throughout the show and came away inspired by the possibilities of future STEM careers and the real-world innovations shaping today’s technology.

Year 8 have recently completed their VALID examination. A statewide examination to test the scientific understanding of students in Years 8 and 10, it is a valuable tool for teachers to assist in determining areas of strength or weakness in student knowledge of science. The behaviour of students during the test and the general level of effort in completing the test was great, and they should be commended for that. Well done Year 8!
Ms Moy’s S9 class have been studying forces and have begun to look at electrostatic forces. Students were highly engaged with this activity and had fun zapping each other! From the photos we can tell they really enjoyed the experience!

As we wind down towards the holiday season, we here in Science hope everyone has a great end to the year and comes back refreshed for an even better 2026!
Until next time!
