Last term on Thursday of Week 10, the SVT hosted our first Footy Colours Day to raise school spirit, celebrate community and raise money for the Fight Cancer Foundation. We successfully raised $500 to donate on behalf of our school community.
Students proudly wore their team colours and enjoyed a fantastic afternoon featuring a BBQ, live music courtesy of our talented staff and students, face-painting, and 9-square in the quad.
The highlight of the day was the highly anticipated staff vs student touch football game – a close match that ended with the staff team taking the win 3–2! A huge thank you to all staff and students who participated and supported the event, helping make it such a success.

The GRIP Student Leadership Conference is held anually all around the country and our SVT members have been fortunate enough to attend. It concentrates specifically on training student leaders for their role as school leaders, focussing on being an active member of the school community right now!
Students who attended came away with new skills, new perspectives and new ideas for making a positive contribution to their community as a leader and spent the day making connections with like minded people from schools all across the Hunter Reigon!
Students identified specific challenges at our school that the SVT hope to address, and brainstormed ways to achieve this and get their ideas off the ground.
Developing personal leadership skills are important too and the students were able to select electives such as: Improving my Public Speaking and Creating a Culture of Positive Friendships to round out the day.
We look forward to bringing these initiatives forward to the student body and making some positive change at FGHS!
