The Mathematics Faculty has had an exciting start to Term 4, with a mix of strategy, problem solving, and preparation in the air!
This term, we’re running our inaugural Chess Competition, open to all students who enjoy a challenge and a bit of friendly competition. Matches are being held on Thursdays at first break. There are great prizes up for grabs - including $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $20 for third - so it’s been fantastic to see so many students getting involved.

Congratulations to our Round 1 Winners on their excellent sportsmanship and chess skills.

Meanwhile, our Stage 5 students (Years 9 and 10) are hard at work preparing for their end of year Mathematics examinations. These exams provide an opportunity for students to consolidate their learning from across the year, demonstrate their understanding, and reflect on the progress they’ve made. Teachers have been working with classes to revise key topics, practise problem-solving skills, and build exam confidence. We encourage students to make the most of these final weeks by revisiting class notes, completing practice questions, and asking plenty of questions in preparation for success.
We wish all students the best of luck both on the chessboard and in the exam room!
