Welcome from the Cultural Room
Students in the Write it Right Program have continued taking part in a series of rich cultural and outdoor learning experiences across Wonnarua and Worimi Country. These excursions helped students deepen their understanding of place, Country, and storytelling—learning they later brought back into the classroom as they continued to develop their writing skills.
We had a visit to Mt Tomaree, where students completed the summit walk and explored local Dreaming stories connected to the landscape.

Students had the privilege of visiting Baiame Cave with Uncle Warren, who shared cultural knowledge, stories, and the significance of Baiame as the Creator. This experience provided an invaluable opportunity for students to build their respect for Aboriginal history, culture, and connection to Country.

Our end-of-year celebration took us to Birubi Beach with Murrook Culture Centre, where students dug for fresh water, raced down the dunes on sandboards, learnt about sacred ceremony sites, and enjoyed a 4WD cultural tour across the stunning Worimi Conservation Lands. Throughout the day, students demonstrated great teamwork, resilience, and enthusiasm as they learnt on Country.
We finished the celebration with a BBQ and a game of OzTag, bringing everyone together to reflect on their learning, friendships, and achievements from throughout the program.
A big thank you to Miss Law for joining us on the final excursion, supporting the students, and having fun taking on the dunes with them.
Finishing the year with a huge thank you to Aunty Dawn, Nick and Makaah for the organisation, prepping, driving and supporting our wonderful students throughout this program. Finally, thank you to our amazing students. This year wouldn’t have been as special or as memorable without your positivity, effort, and willingness to embrace every opportunity. We are incredibly proud of you all.
Ms Baker
