Learning and Wellbeing

Student Centred – Learning Focused – Wellbeing Driven

PASIFIKA Shines

Pasifika comes together each week to celebrate cultural heritage, connection and identity. We share cultural knowledge and traditions through song and dance while connecting with our peers and developing our leadership, teamwork and social skills. Pasifika gives our students a sense of belonging and pride in who they are and where they come from. Embracing all cultures and diverse back grounds we encourage all students to join us every Monday and Friday during 2nd break in room A1.

A major highlight for Pasifika was our recent excursion to the PCYC “Haka Warriors”.  30 students travelled to Sydney to watch vibrant cultural performances from school groups from across the state. New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga & Fiji were some of the Pacific nations on display. The event was an inspiring showcase of Pasifika culture, talent, and unity, with our students cheering on their peers. Haka Warriors gave our students a deeper appreciation of their roots and the power of cultural expression. Something we hope to be apart of in the future!

“My experience of being in Pasifika is highly positive. It doesn’t matter if your Polynesian or not, passion is all that counts.” (Philip Kipfer Year 10)

We would also like to congratulate Fehi Vaha'i, Gordan Talanoa and Leo Masima on graduating Y12. All three students have been part of the PACIFIKA group since the beginning. The PACIFIKA students sent the boys' off, with a HAKA on the last day of school.
