Intermediate Boys Table Tennis
Greater Dandenong District Competition
Wednesday 14 August saw the Greater Dandenong Intermediate Table Tennis Competition contested at the Greater Dandenong Table Tennis Association stadium at Oasis in Dandenong.
The Dandenong HS boys faced some pretty hot competition from other schools in our district and the first match of the day set the tone for the day as we struggled against Keysborough-Acacia, going down 5 sets to 1.
After dropping our first game in this fashion it was always going to be a battle to win and each game thereafter saw similar results.
Round 2 - Noble Park (eventual winners) defeated DHS 6-0
Round 3 - Minaret (runners up) defeated DHS 6-0
Round 4 - Carwatha defeated DHS 5-1
Round 5 - Lyndale defeated DHS 6-0
Round 6 - Keysborough Banksia defeated DHS 5-1
Although the day did not pan out as we hoped, full credit must be given to our boys for the way in which they conducted themselves and they represented Dandenong HS with great distinction. When not playing, they offered to umpire, score and support each other as well as being very efficient, organised and ready to play at any time during a very hectic day.
We tried a number of doubles combinations during the day and found some success, however nearly all of our singles matches were against some very talented opposition players. Given the results during the day, no higher praise can be given to the boys other than the fact that at no time did they ever concede anything. The team of Ali N (B10), Ali Sinah Y (B10), Mohammad Elyas A (B10) & Tanin S (C10) fought fiercely for every point and believed they could win each match. This takes a lot of courage and pride when many others would just give up because they couldn’t win.
Well done, boys.
