Embracing the Next Chapter: A Fresh Era Begins

As we mark the end of the Headstart, we also celebrate the beginning of a new era for the Bluff Road Campus. This moment signifies a transition and an opportunity to reimagine what lies ahead for our junior school community. Central to this journey is the theme of belonging—creating a campus where every student feels valued, connected, and inspired to thrive.
I would be remiss not to acknowledge Vivienne McElwee and her team for their remarkable contributions to the Bluff Road 7–9 Campus over the past six years. Their dedication has laid the foundation for the strong sense of community and belonging we strive to continue building today. This was genuinely encapsulated in the Year 8 and Year 9 farewell assemblies a few weeks ago, where students and staff came together to reflect on shared memories, celebrate achievements, and acknowledge the incredible efforts that have shaped our campus. These assemblies were a testament to the culture of connection and care that Vivienne and her team have fostered over the years.
Our journey began anew over the last two weeks as a dedicated Year 8 campus. Witnessing such a smooth and positive transition for our students as they enter their Year 8 journey has been heartening. They’ve had the chance to connect with their new Year Level team, Caitlin Stewart-Field and Alex Christopoulos , and begin building relationships with their 2025 teachers. The warmth and energy of these first two weeks have truly set the tone for a year where every student has a place and a purpose.
This milestone was celebrated on the final day of Headstart with a special assembly dedicated to recognizing and celebrating outstanding achievements within our School-Wide Positive Behaviour framework and attendance. We proudly presented the prestigious Sandringham Star Award to George Millward and Hazel Thien during the event. Congratulations to all our award winners for their exceptional contributions and efforts!
Additionally, on Monday and Tuesday last week, we welcomed our new Year 7 students during their statewide orientation. Their arrival will complete our Bluff Road Campus for 2025, adding a fresh dynamic to our growing community. We look forward to helping them find their place in this new environment and supporting them as they begin their secondary school journey. A huge thank you to all of our Year 8 and 9 Peer Support Leaders who supported them over the two days and made them feel like they belong.
Together, we are building something truly special at Bluff Road—a community where everyone belongs and thrives. I can't wait to continue this momentum in 2025!
Finally, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. May your holiday season be filled with joy, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones. We look forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for an exciting 2025!
