15 girls 4 x 100m relay team - Victorian State Championships
Sandringham College had many students represented in the Athletics Victoria All Schools competition recently. The college would like to recognise Jake Lahood for winning gold in the 17 year old male competition for javelin. Jake threw a maximum distance of 52.40m on the day. Congratulations Jake!
For the first time in many years, Sandringham College had a sports team at the Victorian state finals. Our year 8 girls hockey team made it through both the Kingston Division and Southern Metropolitan Region rounds to make it to the state finals on Friday 15th November.
This team has trained for one and a half terms, every Thursday morning and their dedication to hockey is commendable. While we didn't come away with the win on the day, we were the only school to score a goal against the overall victors, Princess Hill Secondary College.
The college would like to recognise Erin Carter for coaching the girls each week, Jan Robinson for taking the team to all three competitions and coaching them on the days and Alex Christopoulos for being a superb bus driver and assistant coach at the state finals.
Our Physical Education teachers trained hard and as a group tackled the Speak Share fun run on Sunday 1st December. We are proud of this group as they got comfortable with being uncomfortable.
