Honouring Denise’s remarkable Journey
This year we celebrate the retirement of Denise, whose career as an Early Childhood Educator began back in 1997.
For nearly three decades, Denise has been a constant presence at our Glen Education McKinnon Kindergarten, while also lending her expertise from time to time to other Glen Services, Bentleigh East, Orrong Road and Bentleigh to name a few.
Over the years, Denise has witnessed and embraced many changes in early childhood education. From the days of sessional kindergarten with less than three hour a day programs to today’s seven and half hour sessions, she has met every challenge with resilience, adaptability, and dedication to the children in her care.
Beyond the classroom Denise’s passions have inspired many. She is a keen gardener, and a long-time dragon boat paddler who has proudly represented Australia in competitions. Her numerous medals, which she has shared with the children, turning them into moments of inspiration.
Children have delighted not only in seeing her medals but also in hearing and seeing her special paddle decorated with turtles – a symbol of her unique spirit and determination.
Denise’s longevity in our community means she now teaches the children of those she taught many years ago. Families often smile at the thought that their little ones are learning from the same educator who once guided them.
We will miss Denise dearly - especially her wonderful stories- as we celebrate her extraordinary journey, her contributions to our community, and the joy she has brought to so many. We wish her every happiness in the next chapter of her life.

Farewell Jenny
Jenny began her work as a nanny in July 2003 and has been working as a nanny ever since. Her nanny work has taken her all over the world, including Canada, the USA, Belgium, and Turkey. Her first encounter with Rowen Street Kindergarten was as a nanny to two of our former students. During her time with them, she completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Education and a placement at Rowen Street Kindergarten.
In 2017, a one-day-a-week short-term contract position became available at Rowen Street Kindergarten, which saw Jenny employed as a co-educator in the 4YO Butterflies group for Term 4. She then returned to us in May 2024 to work in the 4YO Dragonflies group, where she has been till this day.
Jenny has an infectiously bubbly personality that lights up every room she walks into. Her sense of humour never fails to make us laugh, and her witty one-liners fondly known as Jennyisms - are legendary.
She brings warmth, care, and genuine compassion to her work with children, always showing initiative and a willingness to roll up her sleeves to get the job done. Jenny’s love of fun and creativity shines through, especially on dress-up days at kinder, where she’s always the first to dive into the spirit of the occasion.
A true adventurer at heart, Jenny is an avid traveller with a deep curiosity for exploring the beauty of our world.
Jenny, we wish you the very best in your retirement. May your travels be many, your moments magical, and your adventures fill your heart and soul. You will be missed!
