PE Incursion
VCE Physical Education
Brighton Secondary College’s Year 12 Physical Education students had the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom recently through an engaging and hands-on incursion delivered by METS Performance Consulting.
The session was designed to deepen students’ understanding of key biomechanical and physiological concepts by allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. Throughout the incursion, students rotated through a series of activities that challenged their physical abilities while illustrating how different factors can influence performance. This included testing how added weight, reduced traction and other restrictions affected running speed and movement efficiency.

These real-world applications provided valuable insight into the principles the students have been studying, strengthening their ability to make connections between theory and practice – an essential skill at the VCE level. The interactive nature of the session also encouraged teamwork, problem-solving and reflection, contributing to a highly effective learning experience.
We extend our thanks to the METS Performance team for their professionalism and expertise, and to our staff for organising such a worthwhile opportunity.
The incursion was a clear highlight of the term and exemplifies our commitment to offering dynamic, high-quality learning experiences for all students.
