LEGO SPIKE in the Classroom
Year 8 Digital Technologies
Brighton Secondary College’s new Year 8 Digital Technologies program is well underway, with students diving into one of the most exciting components of the curriculum – building and coding their own robotic creations using LEGO SPIKE.
This hands-on learning experience encourages students to explore the fundamentals of programming, engineering and problem-solving in an engaging and highly interactive environment. Working collaboratively, students are designing, constructing and coding robots that can move, respond to sensors and complete a variety of challenges. The process not only strengthens their digital literacy but also nurtures creativity, curiosity and resilience as they test, refine and improve their designs.

The enthusiasm in the classroom has been unmistakable, with students eager to see their ideas come to life. Each project showcases unique thinking and inventive solutions, highlighting the growing confidence and capability of our young learners.
We look forward to seeing what innovative creations emerge as the unit progresses. The Digital Technologies curriculum continues to be a vibrant and inspiring part of learning at BSC, and this year’s Year 8 cohort is already demonstrating that the future is indeed bright.
