Student Leaders Corner

Hello everyone. Welcome back to Term 2 of 2026! It is awesome to see everyone get back into the school routine smoothly. We hope you all had a restful break, and are excited for the term ahead. We ended off last term with lots of school spirit and we hope that stays consistent throughout the rest of the year.
Year 12 Camp
From March 21st to March 24th, the Year 12 leaders had the opportunity to go to Canberra for our leadership camp. It was without a doubt, a very fun, very productive and memorable experience for all of us to not only develop our leadership skills, but connect as a leadership team. From visiting the High Court of Australia, to the Australian Institute of Sports, to the Australian War Memorial, we learnt valuable leadership skills from our own country’s leaders, as well as crucial Australian history which helps to build all of our identities as Australians. We even had the fantastic opportunity to visit the house of Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC. Overall, it was definitely a highlight of this year for the Year 12 leaders, and we hope to apply the leadership skills and qualities we learnt towards the school community.
Swimming Carnival
Once again, congratulations to Callistemon for winning the Swimming Carnival. The 2026 Swimming Carnival was a great start to the year, filled with colourful costumes, strong student participation in activities and strong House spirit. Overall, we hope you have enjoyed the Swimming Carnival and hope that you can carry on the enthusiasm to future events!
Careers Expo
The 2026 Careers Expo was a great opportunity for students to explore future pathways, career options and further studies. We had a wide range of universities, organisations and industry representatives present. Students were encouraged to interact and ask questions, allowing for students to gain insight into different professions and courses. Overall, it was encouraging to see so many students having the courage to engage with the many different stalls and taking initiative towards future goals, one small step at a time.
ANZAC Assembly
The ANZAC Assembly was a meaningful opportunity for students and teachers alike to come together and reflect on the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. During the assembly, the Year 12 student leaders laid wreaths and students listened to special guests speak, as well as hearing two powerful stories of courageous soldiers whose sacrifices exemplified the values we strive to uphold. These stories not only deepened our understanding of the bravery, resilience, and courage shown throughout the war but also reminded us of the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by others.
Upcoming:
The term has just started, but we have loads of school events to look forward to. The Interhouse Chorales Competition is only a few weeks away, a great opportunity to show House spirit and win points for the House Shield. So let's try to take that small step to participate, and even bring a friend along. It might seem scary, but courage is what we encourage, and no better way to prove it than trying something new!
We wish you a productive start to term 2. Lets keep up the good work and school spirit!
