Our annual Open Day - on Friday 22 August - is an opportunity for future families of St George’s Anglican Grammar School to visit our 441 Murray Street Campus. Further details about the school day itself will be sent to current families closer to the time.
Year 7 – 10 students will be expected at school and will undertake three showcase classes with St George’s Academic Staff when the tours are taking place. The school day will begin at 0900.
Year 11 and Year 12s students will have a Study Day at home, unless their teacher requires them to attend a showcase lesson or they volunteer their time as tour guides for the day.
The formal opening of our new school campus will take place in the afternoon of Friday 5 September. The formal service will commence at 2PM and conclude by approx. 4PM at the latest. This will include a wide range of important dignitaries and notable VIPs from all across Perth.
There will therefore be a later start and finish on this day for students.
Year 7 & Year 12 students will form part of the audience for the formal opening service. They will be sent the times they are required to be at school nearer to the time. Formal Winter Uniform and Blazers will need to be worn for the service, shoes shined, ties straight and hair neat and tidy.
The Student Guild and invited Year 11s will act as Tour Guides across the building for the VIP Tours, which will follow the service.
All other students will have a Pupil Free Day, where academic work will be set for them to complete at home via SEQTA. Otherwise, they will be invited to be part of several showcase special classes, performance items or the service itself. These invites will be sent out to students once the final plans are in place for the day by their teachers.
There will be a musical item as part of the Opening Service, and this will require a pre-performance final rehearsal and sound check. These details will be sent to the relevant students by Mrs Lynette Taylor, Acting Head of Music.
Further details will come out to families over the course of the next few weeks as teachers plan their lessons for these special tours. These details are just an outline of what is to come.
A Parents Sundowner will be held at 441 Murray Street on Tuesday, 16 September.
There will be the opportunity to wander through the floors of the new building from Ground Floor to Level 4 commencing at 5PM prior to the Sundowner. The Sundowner will be held on Level 2 from 6PM – 8PM. All levels of the school will not be accessible from 6PM onwards. Book now: https://www.trybooking.com/DEHHJ
Please notehis is a parent/guardian only event.
The School’s Executive Team and Staff have reviewed the current School’s Daily Schedule in line with AngliSchools expectations that all schools integrate Pastoral Care Group Time and Chapel Time into a teachers’ overall instructional workload from the start of the 2026 school year. As such, all AngliSchools have been encouraged to explore and implement daily scheduling models that align with these new expectations.
The School’s Executive Team and staff have agreed to a weekly schedule that will include a slightly earlier finish to the school day for St George’s at 2.30PM every Friday commencing in 2026.
The new commencement and finish times for each school day are detailed below for information in preparation for the 2026 school year by our families.
Given the variety of transport opportunities available within the city, and without an allocated TransPerth School Bus, we do not perceive that transport home at 2.30pm instead of 2.40pm on a Friday will cause any undue inconvenience.
With many of our students travelling extended distances daily to attend St George’s Anglican Grammar School, we are also confident that this extra time on a Friday afternoon will be useful for families and students in many and varied ways.
We understand that change can be challenging, as such our goal in giving such a long lead notice period to all families is to ensure that everyone has adequate opportunity to adjust their schedules and routines accordingly to allow for a positive rollout of this new daily schedule.
Please note the slightly earlier close on a Friday does not come into effect until the start of the 2026 School Year.
