We are excited to announce that this term marks the official opening of our brand-new Food Technology Kitchen Classroom.
This purpose-built space is now fully operational and ready for students to explore the world of food preparation, nutrition, and culinary creativity. The kitchen has been designed to support practical, hands-on learning and to provide students with real-life skills they can take beyond the classroom.
In 2025, Food Technologies is being offered to students in Years 7 and 8, providing them with a foundation in kitchen safety, basic cooking techniques, and food hygiene. Students have spent the first week getting to know their way around the kitchen, learning how to handle equipment safely, and understanding the importance of working cleanly and responsibly in a shared environment. From mastering knife skills to measuring ingredients accurately, they are building confidence week by week.
Looking ahead, our Food Technologies program is set to grow. Year 9 Food Technology will launch in 2026, followed by Year 10 in 2027, allowing students to build on their skills and deepen their understanding of food, nutrition, and sustainability. As the program expands, we aim to introduce more complex recipes, cross-curricular links, and opportunities for students to design and execute their own food projects.
Each week, we will be highlighting a "Recipe of the Week" that showcases what our students are cooking in class. These recipes reflect what they are learning - from foundational techniques to cultural cuisine and creative meals they can replicate at home. Stay tuned as we share their progress and celebrate their culinary achievements!
