We have been busy in science, celebrating and raising further awareness of NAIDOC Week by offering our Year 7-10 students a First Nations link to their science lessons!
In Year 7, students made "rainbow serpents", which linked into their Classification topic.
In Year 8, students focused on how animals and plants indicate the various First Nation Seasons, which linked to their Cells (Multicellular Organisms) topic.
In Year 9, students focused on land management, which linked into their Ecosystems topic.
In Year 10, students focused on fermenting alcohol, which linked into their Chemical Reactions topic.
Many thanks to our Science Team Leaders and Lab Technicians for preparing and delivering these lessons.

As we settle into our vibrant new home at 441 Murray Street, the Music Department is thriving with energy and creativity. The new facilities have provided a dynamic environment for rehearsals, lessons, and performances, and we are already seeing the benefits in the way our students are engaging with music.
We are gearing up for one of the biggest events of the term — Battle of the Bands, happening on Thursday, August 28. This year’s event will take on a festival feel, with performances taking place across multiple venues within 441. Expect a huge celebration of student talent, with rock bands, choirs, soloists, and House groups all taking to the stage in what promises to be an unforgettable evening.
On the following day, Friday, August 29, selected students will represent our school at the AngliSchools Piano Competition. We are proud to support our talented pianists as they take part in this prestigious event and wish them the very best of luck.
We are also delighted to welcome our new string tutor, Momo Foord to the team this term. If you have ever thought about learning the violin, viola, cello, or double bass, now is the perfect time to sign up for lessons.
And finally, we encourage all students to get involved by joining one of our many ensembles. Whether you love to sing or play an instrument, there is something for everyone – from choir and swing band to our growing rock bands. Being part of an ensemble is a great way to build confidence, make friends, and be part of something truly special.
Music is alive and well at our city campus – come and be part of it!
