It has been quite a start to life as a two-campus school. Students and staff are enjoying the facilities at 441 Murray Street, and I am enjoying a much quieter Level One at 50 William Street.
Please note that as part of our continued support of all students, we have set up another Pastoral Care Lounge in the new building. It can be found on the ground floor opposite the Student Services Desk. Students who need a short time-out can report to the Student Services Officer, Ms Maddie Yates, and she will let staff know they have arrived. If the student requires more support than a short break, Ms Yates will contact a member of the Pastoral Care Team to offer additional care and assistance.
Last week, we held meetings with the Year 11 and 12 students. Firstly, to give the Year 12s the new Year 12 school tie, which has been designed with the help of our Student Guild. This will form part of a lasting legacy for the class of 2025. The meeting also gave us a chance to talk about ‘Finishing Well’ at St George’s. No matter what each individual experiences the final few weeks, this time should be about acknowledging the significant part the school has paid in their lives and to thank some of the people who have supported them on this journey.
Our SchoolTv platform is filled with resources to support the final year of high school. Please take the time to look at what is available.
Our meeting with the Year 11s was just as exciting as we launched the search for our 2026 student leaders. Mrs Campbell, Mr Hayward and I spoke to the year group, and the 2025 School Captains, Ben and Alison, spoke about their experience of leadership. The timeline to apply was explained and every student was encouraged to take an application pack. As I write this article, I already have several applications completed and returned to me. This is an exciting time for our future leaders. I am confident that we will find another outstanding leadership group.
During today's wonderful Academic Awards Assemblies, it became clear that a few Sports Half Colours had not appeared on the final awards list. I can only apologies for the oversight for which I take sole responsibility. I will review the lost data and make sure all worthy recipients receive their awards next week. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
