Love Your Library

New Tech and Fresh Reads

A warm welcome back from the team in The Laurence Library. As the new semester begins and the St George’s story settles into its next chapter, The Laurence Library remains in its familiar spot and ready to offer a calm, welcoming space for study, connection, or simply catching your breath. While we are yet to change location, the opening of the new building has created a little more breathing room – which we are using to look forward and the space that will become the new Laurence Library is already being considered.

One of the exciting changes on the horizon is the expansion of our collection to include digital items for lending. While it is still early days, we are aiming to offer practical, everyday solutions – such as providing options when a laptop charger or cable has been left at home and your device is draining a little faster than you would hope! Once the new items have been added to our catalogue, we will let you know exactly how it works and what is available.

Last semester, the Library was a hive of activity during breaks – bubbling with conversations, group work, and the kind of energy that only our students can bring. This term, with the bustle shifting between campuses, the atmosphere has been quieter. Some days, it has felt almost meditative, with students quietly completing puzzles, building with LEGO, or simply watching the rain roll by. So, whether you are here to work, wind down, or wait out the weather, you are always welcome. Pop in, have a browse, or just enjoy the space – it is yours to be used.
