Dear Warrandyte High School Community

As we approach the conclusion of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the positive momentum that continues across the school.

A significant focus for our school this term has been the progress of our Shelter in Place works, which are continuing on schedule. Most noticeably, landscaping works are now well underway and the installation of new lockers for our Year 9 and 10 students look fantastic. These improvements will enhance both the functionality and presentation of A Building and are an important part of ensuring our school remains safe for all members of the school.

Our Year 7 and Year 9 students have recently completed NAPLAN. I would like to acknowledge the positive and mature way our students approached each assessment. Particularly amidst the technical issues faced on day 1 of the Writing task. A big thank you goes out to the staff who were involved.

Term 1 Interim Reports have now been published, providing parents with an opportunity to review the progress your child has made so far this term. These reports are an important checkpoint and help inform the conversations that take place between students, parents and teachers around the next steps in their learning.

Our School Open Night was held last night and was a very successful event, proudly showcasing what WHS has to offer to prospective families. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all staff, students and parents who contributed their time and energy to this important evening. Events such as this play a significant role in sharing the story of our school with the wider community.

This weekend sees the Warrandyte Festival take place. WHS is proud to again be involved. Tonight, the school will be involved in the Pet Show, which is always a highlight. In addition, on Saturday, members of the cast of our upcoming school production Beauty & the Beast Jr, will be participating in the festival parade at 10:00 am and performing on stage at 1:15 pm. We will all be cheering on our students.

Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences will take place this coming Wednesday April 1. If you have not yet done so, I strongly encourage families to book a time to meet with your child’s teacher. These conversations are invaluable in strengthening the partnership between home and school and ensuring every student is supported to achieve their best.

As we approach the end of the term, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for the positive way you continue to contribute to our school community. I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Easter and holiday period, and I look forward to welcoming students back refreshed for the beginning of Term 2.

Warm regards
