1. Getting Used to Classrooms

Classrooms at WHS are interactive and student‑centred. You are encouraged to:

  • Ask questions whenever I am unsure
  • Share my ideas in class discussions
  • Work collaboratively in groups, it helps build confidence and improves English naturally.

2. Easy Tips for Improving English

Language grows with everyday practice. We encourage students to:

  • Speak English with friends during breaks
  • Review vocabulary from each class
  • Read short news, stories, or school newsletters, and watch English videos with subtitles. These habits help English feel more natural.

3. Managing Homework and Time

A simple routine can reduce stress:

  • Use a weekly planner to write down homework and deadlines
  • Start early instead of waiting until the last day
  • Ask teachers if anything is unclear

4. Reaching Out When Feeling Stressed

Studying overseas can be exciting, and sometimes overwhelming too. Students are reminded that they never need to carry stress alone. Support is always available from our:

  • International Student Coordinator
  • Sub-school Leader
  • Wellbeing Team

Staying Connected — Supporting Our Students Even Before They Arrive

At Warrandyte High School, we truly believe that every international student’s journey matters, and that their journey starts well before they join their mainstream classes.

Many of our future students are still studying at their language schools, building up their English skills and preparing for the next big step. Even though they haven’t arrived on campus yet, we make sure they already feel part of our community.

We keep in touch, check on how they’re going, and send little messages of encouragement along the way. Our goal is to help them feel confident, welcomed, and supported, so that when they finally enter into Warrandyte High School, it feels like they are coming home.

For us, caring for students isn’t something that starts on their first day, it starts the moment they choose us. And we’re proud to walk with them on every step of their journey.
