Climate Change Roundtable
On 17 March, Coco Maslin and I were invited by MP for Melbourne Sarah Witty to a climate change roundtable discussion on behalf of MGC. We got to be involved in a Q&A with Minister Witty, a selection invited lobbyists and special interest groups and the climate and energy minister, Chris Bowen, who is also the President of CoP 31 (the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference), and will be negotiating the next UN resolution on climate change in Turkey this November!
As a part of this, we were able to hear from and ask the Australian Labour Party about energy and related policy, both at a state and federal level. We were lucky enough to represent environmentally conscious schools, and meet lots of people in the energy and climate world. It was a really interesting experience to be a part of, and we learned a lot about renewable energy's place in Australia's future.
