Creating new narratives... Our Year 2 Narrative
Array Cities and Crazy Hair! This term the Year 3’s focused on Arrays as part of our study on multiplication. As a cohort we made an array city. Following this, there are a few students who have spoken about doing this:, On the 7th of June 2022 The Lakes took part in raising awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis. We had a day that the students came to school with crazy hair. Below are a few of the day’s highlights from some of the students in Year 3:
Hands on learning! This term, the Year 4s got to go on their first excursion in 2 years to Scienceworks! We were super excited to be out and about, and we got to learn many different things about Science from Space to Liquid Nitrogen to Sports! , Hands on Math Activities, Inquiry

Our Individual Pride Year 6 students were asked to share what has made them proud this term. They were encouraged to think about activities completed whilst at school but also about achievements they have made outside of school. It has been amazing to see the talent that has been hiding in Year 6, here are some examples we would like to share!
Maths Masterclass
Interschool Achievements! Again Term 2 Interschool Sport has proven tricky due to Melbourne’s unpredictable weather! However cross country was able to go ahead as planned. We sent between 40 and 50 students to compete at district level and most completed their race without being rained on.
Music Making! A whirlwind term of hands-on music making and performing!
Art at The Lakes
Kinder visits in Term 2 What a wonderful term we have had forming relationships with our local kinders.  These visits have been a terrific opportunity for our older Lakes Legends to show their leadership skills in the community.  They have also provided valuable school readiness skills for our local kinder kids.
Shining stars on stage! They say at night the human eye can see a candle flickering 50kms away. That’s how far whole school concerts and the performing arts have felt to our students over the last few years.  Like a candle ever so distant, visible and burning to be seen. Finally in from the cold, our arts hearts sparked once again. , 8D student reflections on the performance:
