Array Cities and Crazy Hair!

This term the Year 3’s focused on Arrays as part of our study on multiplication. As a cohort we made an array city. Following this, there are a few students who have spoken about doing this:

On a school day we had a math project and made a unique and terrific Array City. It was fun and crafty just like me. I love this experience, before we started, we chose coloured paper. Everyone made one or two buildings. I made one. My teacher Nicole and my classmate Hudson stuck the paper buildings onto black paper. This was all to do with multiplication and how we can show our thinking/learning. - Kathy N

Array city is where you can do any multiplication facts. Arrays help you solve multiplication facts. We worked together as a cohort to build an array city full of multiplication facts. - Connor P

On a normal school day, we made a unique city, and it was amazing. I couldn’t believe my eyes because it was perfect. At the start I thought it was hard but when the teachers explained it, it was easy. When we were about to start, we chose the colour paper for the array. I chose purple, dark green and blue. I made a tower for my array and other people made different towers. I loved it because it was unique. Then Nicole and Hudson pasted the array tower and we put it up high then everybody loved it! - Sophia C

Array City is a big city paper full of arrays of city windows. Arrays made are multiplication which is a good way of counting. - Thomas B

On the 7th of June 2022 The Lakes took part in raising awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis. We had a day that the students came to school with crazy hair. Below are a few of the day’s highlights from some of the students in Year 3:

On Tuesday the 7/6/2022, we had Crazy Hair Day! We had it at school for a fundraiser. Even though I’m not a Demons supporter, my parents made me look like I am. I said “but I don’t’ have a game team!’ They said “Exactly!” At lunch I got to eat my pizza and we watched Mr Bean and boy was that hilariously funny and I loved finishing our world map. - Eloise C

Yesterday was Crazy Hair Day! Nicole wore a WIG! I was normal. I just had plates. Everyone put coins in a bag for Crazy Hair Day. Anna had buns and she sprayed her hair blue, red and pink. Kathy put a flower in her hair, and Isaac sprayed his hair yellow. Mehreen had balloons in her hair. We went home after school. - Marley F

Yesterday everyone had a Crazy Hair Day at school. I had a hair style, and everyone thought I looked like someone from Minecraft Drip Stone. My dad had put gel in my hair to make it stay and looked like drip stone. Harry had confetti hair. We had to stay inside because it was so, so wet, and rainy. The rest of the day was fun and exciting. - Levi B

Yesterday on Crazy Hair Day, most people came to school with crazy hair. But if you came with crazy hair you would have to bring a $1 or $2 gold coin donation. Nicole came with beautiful red wig and Leah came with a beautiful purple wig. The reason the teachers raised the money was for charity. My mum sprayed my hair golden, and it had glitter and every time I shook or touched my hair some glitter came off my head. At lunch time I got a Margarita and apple and black currant prima. - Isaac H

On Tuesday the 7th of June we had Crazy Hair Day, and everyone’s hair was crazy. We had crazy hair day at school, so we could raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. My mum did my hair like cotton candy just spilled on my head. She used my fake hair from my hair braid in Queensland. My fake hair was pink, purple, and blue colours. - Addison M
