Semester 1 Report
This semester has been a steep learning curve for all of the VCAL students. Time for talk was over, it was time to actually engage into some action. Our 2 Box projects were the focus of the term and we were determined to complete the highest quality projects possible.
Every aspect of the projects were planned, managed and completed by the students. They faced challenges and overcame issues that came from a range of directions. However the level of commitment shown to see these projects through to the end was inspirational for every teacher and student at The Lakes.
VCAL BBQ Wrap up
We completed a lot of different activities this semester, but none made us cry this much.
Cutting onions at 8 in the morning as a team was a new experience. We all had a job to do on the day or tasks to be done leading up to the Song Dance and Drama Night BBQ.
It started with a brainstorm. What do we have to do before? How much stuff do we need to buy? Who was going to do what? How much were we gonna make?
You’d think running a BBQ would be easy, right. Apparently not blowing yourself up using a gas bottle is kind of important and OH&S is a real thing. Let’s just say no one was harmed before, during or after the BBQ and everyone left with everything they came with.
It was a fun experience getting to be part of the whole night. Everyone's got to eat sometime. Looks like we even made a profit, and we are looking forward to planning an excursion with it. Educational of course.
Thanks for the BBQ warm up, we are looking forward to sizzling some more sausages at the Primary Athletics day next term.
