Creating new narratives...
This term the Year 2’s have focused on writing narratives. They wrote a class narrative together by sharing their ideas, working collaboratively through the writing process. After each stage of the process students went off and wrote, edited and revised their own narrative. The students were so excited to share their narrative with each other, they then reviewed and left positive comments for each other. This has been an amazing writing experience where each student was able to express their ideas.
Our Year 2 Narrative
Once upon a time in a land far, far away there lived a king named Charlie and a queen named Mary. King Charlie was a very cheeky king. He wore a big golden crown with sparkly gems around his head. King Charlie walked around the castle in a red, white and blue suit looking very handsome. Queen Mary was beautiful. She wore a tiara covered in diamonds. Mary was kind, fair and a little bit sassy. She loved to dance and sing all around the castle.
King Charlie and Queen Mary lived in a large castle. There were red, white and blue flags all around the castle because they were King Charlie’s favourite colours. It was covered in old stone bricks and in between were some shiny, clean windows.
The castle was in the middle of a big green forest. When King Charlie was looking out his window, all he could see was tall trees and cute bunnies running around. Sometimes at night when Queen Mary was cleaning she would hear the hooting of owls living close by.
There was just one problem that nobody knows about. King Charlie was always cruel and unkind to Queen Mary. He would always make Mary clean the dishes, mow the lawn and even scrub his dirty yucky toes. Worst of all he would DEMAND Mary feed him every single meal. This made Mary feel very sad inside. She had had enough!!
Mary marched upstairs and pulled out her secret box. In her secret box was a magic wand. She shouted “ABRA KADABRA!” All of sudden, Queen Mary heard a bark from the kitchen.
Queen Mary went back downstairs and she realised that King Charlie had turned into a puppy! King Charlie was very upset about this and he started to jump and bite Queen Mary. Queen Mary yelled “GET OUTSIDE NOW!” Puppy Charlie started digging gigantic holes all over the castle grounds.
UNTIL he came across a bunny called Zoe who yelled, "STOOOOP!” Puppy Charlie stopped where he was standing and stared back at Bunny Zoe. He was in shock! Zoe bunny said, “follow me, I can teach you what to do to be kind to Queen Mary.”
Puppy Charlie said, “Ok Bunny Zoe, I will come with you. I think I need to stop being so unkind to Queen Mary”. That afternoon, Bunny Zoe and Puppy Charlie worked so hard to fill up all of the deep holes he had made in the garden. After that, Puppy Charlie spent the rest of the day picking beautiful pink flowers with long green stems for Queen Mary. Zoe Bunny also helped him to make a lovely card for Queen Mary. He stamped his puppy paw on the card to say sorry. After he was done, Zoe Bunny hopped away and told Puppy Charlie how proud of him she was.
That night Puppy Charlie ran straight up to Queen Mary and he gave her the flowers and the card he had made. Queen Mary was so happy and grateful for this. She leant down and gave Puppy Charlie a great big kiss on his head. All of a sudden Puppy Charlie transformed back into himself! He was King Charlie again. From this day on, Queen Mary and King Charlie never fought again. They lived happily ever after.
