ABC Haywire & Behind The News Visit Woodmans Hill Secondary College
Over the past few weeks, Woodmans Hill Secondary College has been fortunate to host a series of engaging writing workshops facilitated by the ABC Haywire program. As part of their regional takeover of Ballarat, the Haywire team ran hands-on sessions with groups of our students, helping them develop their writing skills, share their ideas, and learn how to craft authentic personal stories. Students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with professional storytellers and learn more about how youth voices can shape media conversations.
Many of our students have entered their stories into the TakeOver Ballarat competition, which will be celebrated with a gala evening in early next year!

We were also lucky to receive a visit from the ABC BTN (Behind the News) team. Several of our students were interviewed about the upcoming social media ban, providing them with a platform to express their views on an issue that directly affects young people. This was an exciting experience for our students, giving them real-world insight into journalism and media production.
We thank ABC Haywire and BTN for sharing their expertise and offering our students such valuable, real-life learning opportunities.
