Report

Ashley Vincent-

An update on what’s been happening in our Woodmans Hill Secondary College sports community in the past week!

Yesterday, 12 Year 8 boys competed in the Eureka Division Futsal event, that included 10 teams from other Ballarat schools in the Eureka division.

Both teams started the day strong, with a 2-1 win against Beaufort A, and a 1-0 win against Daylesford A. Our teams were then met with some tough competition, losing to eventual finalists in Ballarat High, Phoenix, Mount Clear and Mount Rowan. The day ended on a high, as the Woodmans Hill Secondary College B team had a commanding win over Daylesford B, 11-0. Overall, our boys placed equal 6th and equal 8th, with Mount Rowan being crowned the champions of the day. We are very proud of our boys and their efforts on the day, as they are, stating “we shocked ourselves with how competitive we were”.

In other sporting news, Year 9 student Grace M competed in the 2025 Pasifika Cup, representing the Under 16 NSW Fiji team. The event took place on the 28th, 29th and 30th of November, as 17000 junior rugby players represented their culture in Western Sydney.

Grace’s tournament had a rough start, losing her first two games to Tonga and Samoa. Victory came on the Saturday, with Fiji defeating the Barbarians 10-5 and again on the Sunday defeating Koori 45-5.

Congratulations Grace this is a fantastic achievement. Well done.

As always, we are very proud of what our students are achieving in the sports community.

We turn our attention to the final School Sports Victoria event of 2025, with the Year 7 Futsal competition being held next Wednesday, the 7th of December.
