Sporting Excellence

Congratulations to the following students on their sporting achievements and excellence throughout 2026. 

Benjamin Devries was successful in winning the recent World Triathlon Age-Group Sprint Distance Championship held in Wollongong. He completed the 750m swim, 20km ride and 5km run in 57 minutes and 31 seconds with a winning margin of 33 seconds.

Georgie Hayes demonstrated exceptional talent, commitment, and resilience through her selection in NSWCCC Rugby 7s and Touch Football in 2025. Her continued determination and drive have earned her a place in the NSW Schools Girls U18 Sevens team and the Australian Schoolgirls Merit Team. 

At the Australian Rugby Union Championships, Georgie delivered a standout performance, receiving the prestigious Rugby Australia Award for Best Player in the Girls U18 Sevens Final. Last week Georgie received a prestigious NSWCCC Blue Award for her efforts in 2025.

Abbey Hunt is one of only two NSWCCC athletes who were selected in three NSWCCC teams. Abbey is the definition of an all-rounder, representing in Australian Rules, Touch Football and Netball. Abbey impressed at the state level gaining selection in the NSW All Schools team for both Australian Football and Touch Football. 

Abbey has been a successful multi-sport athlete for a number of years now, gaining selection in the NSWCCC Australian Football team in 2024 and 2025 and even more impressively gaining selection in the NSWCCC Touch Football team three years in a row, including in 2023, when Abbey was two years underage! 

A genuine leader amongst her peers, Abbey was awarded the Vice-captaincy of the NSWCCC Touch team in 2024 and graduated to become team captain of NSWCCC in 2025, where she was also awarded MVP of the NSWCCC team. Last week Abbey was presented with the highly acclaimed John Sparks Award which is given to the most outstanding all-round male and female sportsperson of the year in Catholic Secondary Schools.
