Music

Year 7 immersed in learning about the functions of music in films this term. They  scripted a movie scene and composed music using Soundtrap to represent the function of music in the scene. Students used aspects of the concepts of music in their compositions, including: major/minor/diminished chords, register, performing media and rhythm.

Year 8 have recently completed a composition task using Soundtrap. Students were given various snippets from the song Don’t Stop Believin’. Students then had to piece together the song using their own arrangement. To complement this, students were able to use various samples and drum loops to make their arrangements more varied.

Year 9 students completed their final individual performances for the year. Students rehearsed these pieces a lot over a number of weeks. Some great music was delivered, including My Way (Frank Sinatra), The Chain (Fleetwood Mac) and Self Esteem (The Offspring)

Year 10 Music completed their final performances this term, with some students performing at the Music Night. Students have worked in ensembles as a focus and have collaborated in vocal ensembles, a piano duet and as Rock Bands. Songs included were: Aeroplane by The Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass, Amazing Grace as a piano duet, Death’s at My Door from Outsiders the musical as a vocal duet and Burning House as a vocal/guitar ensemble.
