HSIE

Term 4 has seen students engaging in interactive learning experiences that included:

 

Year 7

Students have explored key features of Ancient Chinese society, including the Great Wall of China and Terracotta Warriors. The History studies concluded with students pitching their ideas for the best legacies from Ancient Rome and China.

 

Year 8

Year 8 journeyed to Japan at the time of the Shogun, unravelling the unique blend of tradition and innovation during this era. This culminated in the annual, highly anticipated Samurai armour challenge.

Forming part of their Mongolian Expansion studies, students also took part in the Mongolian Knucklebone Challenge. This game involved knocking as many sheep knuckle bones off the table as possible with a deer antler puck in two minutes. 

 

Congratulations to Darcey Figgis who was crowned the champion, managing to knock off nine! 

 

 

Year 9

Students learned about the world's biggest cities and the challenges and benefits of living there. They have designed their own sustainable cities to overcome these challenges.

Year 10

The cohort has investigated global and national wellbeing, focusing on the factors that influence quality of life around the world. After returning from Work Experience, they have been exploring their own personal wellbeing focusing on their individual strengths, connections, gratitude and resilience.

Year 11

The HSC courses in Modern History, Legal Studies, Geography, Society and Culture and Business Studies have commenced this term. Teachers are encouraging students to develop and maintain consistent revision routines to ensure their success in next years’ HSC examinations.
