Year 11 Outdoor Education

Tracks, Trails and Teamwork
The two Year 11 Outdoor Education classes travelled to the Warren area in Week 5 for their first expedition of 2025. The experience provided students with the opportunity to further develop and refine their bushwalking, navigation and camping skills in an authentic outdoor setting. Before arriving in Manjimup, students tested their orienteering skills by completing two courses in Armadale and Nannup.
As part of the expedition, students also contributed to ongoing Bibbulmun Track maintenance in the section for which Mazenod College is responsible. This included trimming back overgrowth, stacking firewood, touching up paintwork and applying varnish stains, among other important maintenance tasks.
The group camped for two nights along the Bibbulmun Track, with one group beginning at Greens Island Campground and the other at the aptly named Boarding House campsite. On Day 2, the groups hiked between the two locations and switched campsites, putting their preparation, teamwork and resilience into practice.
Thank you to Mr Grabski, Mr Migro, Mr Websdale and Mr Schultz for assisting with the smooth running of the expedition.
