Celebrated on the Feast of St Eugene de Mazenod, our Mazenod Mission Day was a vibrant expression of faith in action, inviting students and staff to reflect on the life and legacy of our founder. Through prayer, activities and shared experiences, the day reminded us that we are all called to bring hope and compassion to those most in need, living out the values and missionary spirit of the Oblates.

Students engaged meaningfully with the charism of the Oblates, exploring what it means to serve others with courage and generosity. We extend our sincere thanks to staff, students and families for their generous support, which reflects the strength of our community. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the day highlighted who we are as a faith community, committed to Gospel values and inspired to make a difference in the lives of others.

The Cathedral Mass marking our 60th Anniversary was a deeply significant moment in our community’s history. Gathered in prayer, we gave thanks for six decades of faith, growth, and shared mission. The liturgy was both reverent and joyful, honouring the many people who have contributed to the life of our community over the years. We extend our sincere thanks to the Oblates who travelled from near and far to be part of this special celebration, and a special word of gratitude to Bishop Nelson Po for his presence and leadership.

It was a powerful reminder of the enduring presence of God in our journey and the strong foundation built by those who came before us. We offer heartfelt thanks to our families, students, and staff who committed themselves to being part of this occasion, expressing our shared identity as a community of faith. As we celebrated this milestone together, we were reminded of the strength of our unity and gratitude for all who made this such a memorable and meaningful experience.

Our celebration continued with the 60th Anniversary Parish Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes on Sunday morning, a special opportunity to connect more deeply with our local parish community. The Mass reflected a strong sense of belonging and shared identity, uniting past and present members in a spirit of gratitude.

The warm hospitality and prayerful atmosphere highlighted the important partnership between the parish and our school. This occasion strengthened the bonds that support our mission and reminded us of the importance of faith communities in shaping and sustaining our shared values.

The Year 7 Heritage Pilgrimage provided a meaningful introduction to the rich history and spirit of our community. Students journeyed together to significant sites, including a visit to Fremantle Prison, where the Oblates once served as chaplains, celebrating Mass at the Basilica of St Patrick, and learning about outreach at St Pat’s Community Support Centre and the vital services they provide to those in need. Students also visited Fremantle Cemetery and the Oblate Monument, honouring those who have shaped our story.

The pilgrimage was more than a history lesson; it was an opportunity for reflection and connection. Students were encouraged to see themselves as part of a living tradition, called to carry forward the values of faith, service and community. It was a memorable experience that helped deepen their sense of belonging from the very beginning of their journey with us.

Families and community members are warmly invited to join us for our Mazenod Community Mass each Friday at 8:00 am in the College Chapel. This simple and welcoming celebration is a beautiful way to pray together, support our students and begin the day grounded in faith. All are most welcome to attend.

Sacramental Program

One of the great responsibilities and joys of our College is helping young people encounter the life and love of Jesus. As a Catholic school, we warmly welcome people of all faith backgrounds and none. Every member of our community is valued and respected.

Each year, some students, families and staff express a desire to become Catholic or to receive Sacraments they may have missed earlier in life, such as Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation. A person’s faith journey is shaped by many influences: family, school, friendships, community and personal experience. When someone takes this step, we honour it with care, preparation and support.

Last year, 14 students and staff made this voluntary and meaningful decision. We are pleased to open this invitation again in 2026.

If you or your child would like to explore becoming Catholic or receiving Sacraments previously missed, we encourage you to have a conversation at home and then contact Dr Nathan Leber (leber.nathan@mazenod.wa.edu.au). We will work with you to find a preparation pathway that suits your circumstances.
