60 Years of Community

As I reflect on the richness and success of Mazenod College’s recent 60th Anniversary celebrations, I’m reminded that our greatest strength is the strength of our community. Over six decades, generations of students, families, Old Boys and staff, have contributed to a rich and enduring legacy grounded in faith, service and belonging.

The Anniversary celebrations provided a wonderful opportunity to affirm that Mazenod is a community united by shared values and a commitment to the growth and wellbeing of every young man entrusted to our care. The wonder and awe of so many of our boys and families who attended Mass at the Cathedral was an honour to witness, and a privilege to be a part of.

We were especially blessed to be joined by so many of our Oblate Priests who travelled from near and far to be a living presence of Oblate Faith and Mission at Mazenod Mission Day, the 60th Anniversary Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, the 60th Anniversary Gala Ball and the 60th Anniversary Parish Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes. Their care and support of the boys, staff and community was filled with energy and genuine engagement.

My deep gratitude is extended to our local Oblates, Fr Michael Twigg OMI, Fr Mathew Raj OMI, Fr Michael McMahon OMI, Fr Meno Basti OMI, Fr Eric Alleaume OMI and Fr Luan Ha OMI. As well as Oblates who joined us from further afar. Fr Andrew Chen OMI | Provincial, travelled from China, Fr Gerard Conlon OMI travelled from Kenya, and Fr Christian Fini OMI, Fr Bill Ousley OMI, Fr Harry Dyer OMI and Fr Joe Antony OMI who all joined us from interstate.

In an increasingly fast-paced, secular, and individualised world, the importance of community cannot be overstated and shouldn’t be taken for granted. It is here that our young men are known, appreciated and valued.

As we look to the future, may we continue to nurture the spirit of togetherness that has defined Mazenod College for 60 years. Through faith, partnership and compassion, we will ensure our community remains strong, inclusive and vibrant for generations to come.

‘Leave Nothing Undared for the Kingdom of God’

God Bless. Our community remains always in my prayers.
