VET/Workplace Learning

Our Year 11 and 12 General students are currently undertaking their two-week work placements, gaining valuable hands-on experience in industries of interest to them. This opportunity allows students to explore potential career pathways and develop a greater understanding of the workplace before making important decisions regarding apprenticeships, further study or future employment. I look forward to visiting students on-site over the coming week and hearing about their experiences.

Meanwhile, our Year 10 students have begun exploring subject selections and pathway options for Years 11 and 12. In Week 9, students will participate in a range of career-focused activities, including guest speakers, the Careers Expo, our Explore a Career Morning and the Careers Carousel. It is an exciting stage for students as they begin to discover where their interests, strengths and aspirations may lead them in the future.

I&E Alcoa Excursion

The Industry and Enterprise students were fortunate to visit the Dandalup Mine Site operated by Alcoa to explore the mining industry first-hand. During the visit, students gained an insight into the wide range of trades and career pathways available within the industry. The experience provided valuable exposure to the world of work and helped students develop a greater understanding of future employment opportunities within the mining sector.

Apprenticeship Programs 2027

Many large companies have now opened applications for their 2027 Apprenticeship Programs. One of the best ways for students to stay informed about opportunities is by creating a SEEK profile, which provides regular updates on available positions.

This week, companies such as WesTrac and Hitachi opened applications. All Year 12 students have been provided with resume and cover letter templates to support their applications, and students are encouraged to seek assistance if needed.

Year 12:

Graduation: Friday, Week 1

Work Experience Dates – Year 10 I&E:

Term 2: Week 10 – 22–26 June

Paperwork was due back on 22 May

Term 3: Week 10 – 21–25 September

Term 4: Weeks 7 and 8 – 23 November – 3 December
