Wellbeing Moments

Welcome to our Wellbeing Moment: a chance to pause for a minute and reflect on something small but important. There’s nothing you need to do – just take from it whatever feels useful to you.

This week’s focus is Comparing Yourself to Others.

It’s easy to compare yourself to others. At school, in sport or on social media, it can feel like people around you are ahead or doing things better.

What often gets missed is that everyone starts from a different place. People have different strengths, experiences, opportunities, and support. So when you compare yourself to someone else, you’re not comparing like for like.

If you notice comparison creeping in:

  • Pause and recognise it for what it is
  • Shift your focus to your own growth
  • Ask yourself: What have I improved on recently?
  • Keep your goals personal and realistic

Comparing yourself to others doesn’t usually push you forward. More often, it distracts you from your own progress.

This week, try to measure yourself against where you were, not where someone else is. That’s a much fairer and more useful way to see how you’re going.

And if you ever want someone to talk to, you’re always welcome to check in with your Head of Year or our College Psychologists.
