Year 9 Morrisby Program and Debriefs
As part of our Year 9 Careers program, students recently completed their Morrisby Profile and participated in a follow up debrief session on May 27 with trained Morrisby Counsellors. The debrief helped students unpack their results and gain a deeper understanding of their strengths, interests and preferred ways of working. Students explored a range of career and study pathways aligned with their profiles and learnt how to use the Morrisby platform as an ongoing career planning tool. These insights will support informed decision making as students begin considering future subject selections and pathway options. They will be revisiting their Morrisby reports across their Senior School experience at Parkdale Secondary College and will have continued access to this excellent platform.
National Careers Week
Parkdale Secondary College celebrated National Careers Week in May. Students had the opportunity to explore a range of future pathways through our Careers Expo. We welcomed exhibitors from a variety of industries, along with Parkdale alumni Hayley who shared their career journeys as a Midwife and Nurse. We were very fortunate to have a Family Court Judge meet with students to share their story and answer questions about studying and working in the legal industry. The week highlighted the many different paths to success and encouraged students to think broadly about the possibilities ahead.
Year 10 Work Experience
Good luck to our Year 10 students as they head out on Work Experience June 22 - 26! Whether working behind the scenes, helping customers, creating, building, or learning from professionals in the field, this is a fantastic opportunity to experience the world of work first hand. We encourage students to take every opportunity that comes their way and to be ready to share their learnings and experience during our reflection tasks in early Term 3. The Pathways Team hope that students enjoy the experience, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return.
Course Selection
The 2027 Course Selection period is for all year levels is approaching. Over the coming weeks, students will be supported through a range of Pathways based and planning activities, planning tools and course selection resources designed to help them to make informed decisions about their future pathways. These resources complement the information shared at our Course Selection Information Evenings and provide students and families with ongoing support throughout the decision making process. We encourage students to take the time to explore their options, reflect on their interests and strengths, and seek advice as needed. It is important for Families to note the Information Evening dates and to ensure attendance at this as the first action in planning for 2027 and beyond. The 2027 Parkdale Secondary College Handbooks will also be a valuable resource in supporting students and families to further understand the pathway and subject options available here at the College.
Year 9 students will participate in a Course Selection Preparation Day on Wednesday 24th June.
Year 10 students will participate in Course Selection Preparation tasks and activities during their Challenge program, commencing Wednesday 17th June.
Year 11 students will participate in a Prerequisites and Year 12 planning session on Wednesday 24th June.
Course Selection Information Evenings and Dates will be advised in upcoming communication from the Principal Team.
