BGKLLEN ‘Chosen Career Pathway’ Childcare Tours
On the 19th May, a number of our Year 11 students attended a program organised by BGKLLEN. BGKLLEN were running a series of visits to a number of childcare centres and associated VET providers. This was an opportunity for students who have chosen a career pathway into Early Childhood Education to gain a firsthand insight into the profession. All of the students are currently completing their VET certificate in childcare.
This involved visiting local early childhood education centres/providers and hearing from employers about the profession. The students could see how a centre is organised and the different roles required, career opportunities and progression in this pathway.
Alexis and Charlotte also visited Holmesglen Institute to have a tour of the early childhood education facilities and hear from current students studying this certificate and their future plans in the profession.
The students learnt about the profession connecting with educators, students at TAFE and employers/staff in the profession.
Thank you to BGKLLEN for organising the event and providing transport to the centres. Thank you to the students for being so respectful, caring and well mannered.

Year 10 Vocational Skills
So far this year, the Year 10 Vocational Skills classes have covered topics including Occupational Health & Safety & Financial Literacy. We had the opportunity to go to Mentone Bunnings in Term 1, to discuss daily work practices, employability skills they look for as an organisation and also safety requirements they consider in a workplace. We finished off the day with some Woodwork in store!
We have also attended Woolworths in Term 2, looking at the effect of inflation on our daily grocery items, which was an eye-opening experience for us all! We are looking forward to our upcoming tour of Holmesglen TAFE, Chadstone in Term 3.

Year 12 VCE VM Work Related Skills Students Gain Valuable Career Insights
Our Work Related Skills (WRS) students recently had the opportunity to participate in a panel interview, featuring former students who are now working across a range of industries. The session provided valuable insights into the different pathways available after school, including further study, apprenticeships, traineeships, and employment.
Students prepared and asked thoughtful, enquiring questions to learn about the panellists' career journeys, the challenges they faced, and the lessons they have learned along the way. The experience helped students develop their interview and communication skills, whilst gaining a greater understanding of the diverse opportunities available to them in the future.
We thank our former students for generously sharing their experiences and inspiring the next generation as they begin planning their own career pathways.

Year 12 VCE VM ‘Social Awareness Lesson Presentation’:
To meet the VCE VM PDS outcomes, the Year 12 VCE VM students created a lesson for a junior class on elements such as empathy, communication skills, perception, non-verbal communication skills, teamwork and leadership.
The students, in teams, presented their lessons to 8C and 7F. A huge thank you to the students for coming into our classrooms, to help our Year 12 students. The Year 12s had fun as well!
